...Michigan, for all the Dems in the Senate, House, and Governor's seat, is not a 'blue state', what with all the crappy legislation that keeps getting voted into law. Andrew618 put together a scorecard for the state's Congressional R's below, and I just thought that I'd elaborate on one of the names mentioned, Rep. Tim Walberg (R-Knuckledragger). From about two weeks ago:
Michigan's only first-term congressman confirmed he plans to co-author legislation in line with his support of a flat tax and elimination of the Internal Revenue Service.
"I don't easily lump business and individual and corporate taxes," Walberg, R-Tipton, said in a telephone interview from Washington. "We all end up paying for it because businesses pass on the cost."
Walberg, an evangelical minister, said he finds inspiration in Solomon's prayer.
"I certainly will ask God for wisdom," said Walberg, who is set to take his oath of office on his late father's Bible flanked by 50 friends and family members.
That's the conviction supporter Kathy Potts is counting on. As vice president of Jackson Right to Life, Potts said she's confident Walberg will champion anti-abortion bills.Eeesh...That's, like, so 2003...And this guy got elected in a down year for the GOP.
As a side note regarding the 'crappy legislation' line above, I hope someone has the smarts to pit the ban on affirmative action against the ban on gay marriage...
