This Week In The Senate Judiciary Committee

Tuesday 1/16/07
THE PLIGHT OF IRAQI REFUGEES

A big problem getting bigger. Ethnic cleansing is a bitch. The stories of the folks who have helped Americans are very touching. The slow motion response of the Administration to their plight is shameful, but it is just what you would expect from the people who brought you the Katrina relief effort.

Wednesday 1/17/07
PAYING OFF GENERICS TO PREVENT COMPETITION WITH BRAND NAME DRUGS

Thursday 1/18/07
OVERSIGHT OF THE U.S. DEPARTMENT OF JUSTICE

The Thursday hearing will feature a solo performance by The Honorable Alberto Gonzales Attorney General of the United States Department of Justice Washington, DC. I wonder what he is going to say about all the recent U.S. Attorney firings?

The refugee hearings are complete. You might want to give them a read. Just click the link above.

UPDATE: I hope somebody asks about the recess appointment of J. Timothy Griffin to become the new U. S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas. Odd thing about that appointment. Griffin is a 34 year old puppy shark who's only known experience is that he was once an aid to Karl Rove. Missourians like me remember the current U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Arkansas Bud Cummins as the prosecutor who launched a federal investigation of Governor Matt Blunt's fee office practices last year. For those of you on the coasts, Matt Blunt is the son of Roy Blunt. I hope somebody asks if Cummins was targeted for the purge by Bush because he brought investigated a high-profile Republican official. That seems to be a common thread in a lot of these recent replacements.
