This has been one of those world shattering days in an earth shattering week. We have endured five really, really bad Supreme Court decisions, with the worst coming today. All of them pissing on precedent. So much for stare decisis. Decisions so bad that you are left wanting to ring the necks of Democratic Senators for not filibustering Alito's candidacy or at least wondering what those Senators can do to win back your support. "The way to stop discrimination on the basis of race is to stop discriminating on the basis of race." Give me a break. Roberts is the Chief Justice of the Supreme Court not some Ivy League Debater.
We have had endured absurdity of the Vice President's lawyers replacing one outlandish legal position for another equally absurd argument, only to wonder if, given the way this Supreme court decides things, they would back him up on either or both of his crazy arguments.
Then we had spectacle of the President claiming executive privilege in the US Attorney scandal, and threatening it in the case of his patently illegal Warrentless Surveillance program. If like me you believe in the rule of law, this week the whole damn world is going to hell in a hand basket.
Folks, I don't know about you, but I am ready for a few good laughs.
