Name the politician who, during a speech examining the war on terror given on Thursday, told an audience that “none of you should believe we are winning this war. There is no evidence that we are winning this war.” He also asserted that a more effective war strategy would begin with a real national energy strategy aimed at weaning the country from its reliance on imported oil and some of the regimes supported by petro-dollars. Was it:
a) Hillary Clinton;
b) Newt Gingrich; or
c) Bill Richardson?
If you said Newt Gingrich, give yourself a blue star.
According to blogger Bullmoose777 posting at Powerline 's news forum during his speech to the National Conservative Student Conference, Gingrich
was unstinting in his criticism of his fellow Republicans, in the White House and on Capitol Hill.Fellow progressives, I would suggest we not get too comfortable. It seems Newt Gingrich is already laying the ground work for a Republican revival.
“We were in charge for six years,” he said, referring to the period between 2001 and early 2007, when the GOP controlled the White House and both houses of Congress. “I don’t think you can look and say that was a great success.”
