Pop Quiz--Memorable Quotes From Democrats

Today's pop quiz is a match test. All you have to do is match the famous Democrat with his or her quote. Please post your answers in the comments.

Who said:

"Let us never forget that government is ourselves and not an alien power over us. The ultimate rulers of our democracy are not a President and senators and congressmen and government officials, but the voters of this country."

"You know that being an American is more than a matter of where your parents came from. It is a belief that all men are created free and equal and that everyone deserves an even break."

"(T)he American people have a right to know. It is not just Washington insiders that are part of the debate that has to take place with respect to how we're going to shift our foreign policy."

"We are not afraid to entrust the American people with unpleasant facts, foreign ideas, alien philosophies, and competitive values. For a nation that is afraid to let its people judge the truth and falsehood in an open market is a nation that is afraid of its people."

"You can think big, but remember, you shouldn't always say everything you think if you're running for president, because it has consequences around the world."

Here are answers in no particular order, Harry Truman, John F. Kennedy, Hillary Clinton, Barack Obama, and Franklin Roosevelt. I will match the authors to his or her quote in the comments thread at the end of the day.

Bonus: This quote is too good not to share.

"My choice early in life was either to be a piano-player in a whorehouse or a politician. And to tell the truth, there's hardly any difference."

Keep giving 'em Hell, James

While Harry Truman was giving a speech a supporter yelled out, "Give 'em Hell, Harry!". Truman replied, "I don't give them Hell. I just tell the truth about them and they think it's Hell."

Just like that other fighting Democrat, James Webb doesn't give the Bushies like Lindsey Graham Hell. He just tells the truth and they think it's Hell.

In January Webb gave the Democratic Response to the President's State of the Union Speech. If you compare today's video with his response, you can see that he hasn't shifted ground. Near as I can tell he is doing his dead level best to meet the commitments he made in January.

Red State Update--Paris Hilton

This is for those of you on the coasts who think this the way we look and talk out here in the middle of fly over country.

I would remind you that Robert Heinlein, Walt Disney, Thomas Hart Benton, Vincent Price, Ernest Hemingway, Calvin Trillin, Walter Cronkite, Ginger Rogers, Dennis Hopper and Blue Girl are all from the same Red State. I know what you are thinking, except for Blue Girl, they all escaped. The only guy who ever came home was Harry Truman and he didn't have a college education. I can guarantee you that he didn't talk like either of the Red State good old boys. I can also guarantee you that none of the authors or artists I named was ever a porn star.
