Howdy

Well, I guess I'll just jump right in and say a few words ...

First of all, I'd like to thank Blue Girl for starting this place. It's an outstanding idea because no matter one's political affiliation (though I'm sure most of us are decidedly on the left), it is vital that we keep those we elected on notice that we are, in fact, paying attention. And if they can't get the job done, then we'll get someone in there who can.

Who I'll be watching

Since Claire McCaskill was already claimed by Blue Girl, I've decided to keep an eye on Rep./Rev./Mayor Emanuel Cleaver (MO-5). Here's his House page, and here's the Wikipedia.

He was probably a bit on the overrated side as the mayor of Kansas City, and some remember that, as evidenced by his narrow victory in 2004 over Republican Jeanne Patterson, despite the fact that his district is insanely Democratic.

I'll be doing some research on past votes to see where he stands on certain issues, and will be willing to praise when needed, but also rip when deserved.

Also, since my day job involves writing about personal finance, I'll be keeping an eye on legislation that falls into that vein (while avoiding the stuff that's out of my league, like banking regs). This will primarily involve predatory lending issues that affect the most financially disadvantaged of society, And, yes, I'm looking at you, payday lending fuckholes.

A bit about me
I go by the name of Unholy Moses. My main site (Thou Shall Not Suck) has been up and going in one form or another for about 18 months now, and has been all over the map in terms of topics and style. This year, I decided to focus on local issues -- namely, the Kansas City area (including the states of Missouri and Kansas) -- while maintaining my tendency to be vulgar and profane. I also tend to register about a 9.8 on the Snarkometer.

I have degrees in Creative Writing and Literature, and am thisclose to two more in Communications and Journalism. That does not, however, mean I'm a grammar Nazi or know how to spell. So cut me some slack.

During the day, you can find my mainly worthless contributions in the comments sections of The Carpetbagger Report, Political Animal, Tapped, and ThinkProgress. I should also note that Blogspot and pretty much every other blog on the planet (including my own) are blocked by my employer. So posts and comments will be made in the evening after family time, but probably not every day.

Again, thanks to Blue Girl, and everyone else who's on board with this project. I honestly think this can turn out to be a huge resource, and am truly honored to be a part of it. No snark.
