McClatchy is reporting that names of replacements for the beleaguered Attorney General were being circulated on Monday. Late Monday, congressional investigators took delivery of hundreds more Justice Department documents. Those internal documents are not expected to help Mr. Gonzalez keep his job.
Chitra Ragavan of US News & World Report reports that paralysis has set in at the Justice Department. One senior official is quoted as saying Who could Bush find that could get Senate confirmation, since Democrats now run the show? It would have to be a seasoned insider, a consummate veteran or an elder statesman who has bipartisan respect and acceptance and a squeaky-clean record.
