TheOpenHouseProject.com

The Congress is a hard beat to cover from Kansas City, especially if you are a blogger. Every House and Senate Committee is set up to deal with "The Press," but they don't know what to do with citizen journalists. Often we at WTWC have a hard time even getting committee staff to respond to our emails. I am still waiting for a couple of folks to respond. Acquiring transcripts of committee hearings and press conferences is damn near impossible, at least in a timely fashion. Video clips, unless you are Josh Marshall, forget about it.

It looks like we here at WTWC are not alone. Other bloggers, right and left, face the same problems.

There is an organization called the Open House Project dedicated to making the job of the citizen journalist easier. About a month ago they published a report. You might want to give it a read.

The group is bipartisan, but that's ok. People all over the blogosphere are having the same problems. If we can get conservatives to look at original unfiltered source materials, the conservative movement will probably be shaken to its roots. Digesting original documents might also change the way we think.

Here is a short video. Give it a look. There is a longer video at YouTube. I recommend we all read the report.

Blue Girl, do we have any money in our budget to join? Oh, it doesn't cost anything to join. All you have to do is subscribe to their email list.
