This has been out for a day, but in case you haven't heard it, WSJ columnist Peggy Noonan and right-wing pundit Mike Murphy talked their way into a hot corner with hot mikes on, expressing candid observations about GOP veep nominee Sarah Palin. Here's the video, courtesy of WMAL News on YouTube:

At the end of the day

Take a deep breath and step away from the hyperventilating tent slung over "divisions" in the Democratic Party. History shows we've previously visited this scenario and survived. "The top three candidates agree on almost everything, they’ve each presented a progressive platform, and they each lead Republican candidates in hypothetical general-election match-ups." Check your pulse at The Carpetbagger.

Who's ahead in CT? According to the Hartford Courant, Clinton 41%, Obama 27%, Edwards 9%. On the other side: McCain 39%, Rudy 16%, Mitt 11%. Analysis at the link (h/t Josh).

Huckabee barbecues McCain in an "aged" sauce concocted by No. 1 Huckster fan, Chuck Norris.

AQ suicide bomber blows up in Fallujah -- Killed 3, wounded 8 among a US-supported tribal group in western Anbar province. "The explosion was one of the deadliest attacks in Anbar since the council drove most al-Qaeda in Iraq fighters out of the province last year." Monday's WaPo

"It's (Grandpa's) Economy, Stupid" -- "The press may think we're headed back to 1992, but the real worry is we may be headed for 1932, 21st Century style." Pachacutec

Paul Krugman distills Reaganomics. Bottom-line: It took a Clinton economy to correct the recession.

"The Week Ahead" for the Supremes via SCOTUSblog. No arguments.

Staying forever in Iraq -- The oblivious warmongering "liberal" media. Tsk, tsk. Scripting an Iraq war epic offers only one "Serious Option." Blood! Horror! Action! Glenn Greenwald

Peggy Noonan at O'Shilling's Tavern. Oh, me darlin', you also ain't got no soul. MTP video, transcript, and commentary by John Amato.

No! "McCain is the new Reagan." Clap harder, Tweety.

Wingnut scoops

So many to choose, so little time. Oh, but WSJ op/eds never disappoint. Peggy Noonan's stinking pile of poodle shit revelation deserves a shout-out:

Hillary Clinton doesn't have to prove she's a man. She has to prove she's a woman.
She doesn't have to prove to people that she's tough enough or aggressive enough to be commander in chief. She doesn't have to show she could and would wage a war. She has to prove she has normal human warmth, a normal amount of give, of good nature, that she is not, at bottom, grimly combative and rather dark.
Apparently, Peggy needs her meds adjusted. Poor thing probably doesn't understand how deeply disturbed she is:
Noonan's column, headlined "What's Not to Like: The soft side, and the underside, of Hillary Clinton's campaign," said of Clinton: "Get in her way and she'd squish you like a bug. This has been her reputation for 20 years. And it is her big problem. People want a president to be strong but not hard." Noonan also asserted that, in 1992, the Clintons' "consultants were alarmed to find the American people did not believe Hillary was a mother" but, rather, that she was "a person with breasts in a suit. She had a briefcase and a latte and was late for the meeting, but no way did she have a child."
Can't you just feel the "normal human warmth" extruded in Noonan's commentary?

Not to be outdone by Peggy, no one spreads more "good nature" than InstaPooper. Kevin Drum points out what the ole professor has been pimping:
IN THE MAIL: Col. Buzz Patterson's War Crimes: The Left's Campaign to Destroy Our Military and Lose the War on Terror.
I don't think that the left wants to lose the war on terror, exactly — they just want Bush to lose the war on terror. I suspect, however, that Patterson's theme is one that we'll hear more in the future, especially if things go badly in Iraq.
Blue Girl provides background on "third-reich wanna-be" Col. Buzz Patterson so consider the source of the professor's poopaganda scoop. Expect more to come.

Watch your step. SSDW.
