Ann Coulter Endorses Hillary Clinton?

I almost posted the actual Fox News interview upon which tonight's Headzup funny is based. The other day Ann Coulter said to Sean Hannity that if McCain is the Republican nominee she will vote for, nay campaign for, Hillary Clinton. Coulter believes Hillary is more conservative that McCain. Ann has finally gone around the bend.

Funny after the break.

Campaign Video of the Day -- January 12, 2007

Today's campaign video isn't a video. It is an audio clip from Lynn Samuels. For those who have never heard of Samuels she is a mouthy 63 year old Jewish woman from Queens, who some media executive decided must be the left's answer to Ann Coulter. She is on Sirius Radio Monday thru Friday from 1pm - 3pm on channel 146.

In this clip she rifts on a comment made by Barack Obama about what he has learned campaigning in Iowa. Frankly, what I took away from the entire Obama statement is that he is humbled by the depth of knowledge of Iowa voters. What Samuels "takes away" from Obama's comment is that he is an arrogant, self-important elitist--he is in her words "a prick."

All of us who live in fly over country have encountered arrogant, self-important elitists. Many are mouthy 63 year old Jewish women from Queens. For the most part such people are merely ignorant. The good thing about ignorance is that it can be cured by experience. Maybe if Lynn Samuels spent some time outside her little New York neighborhood (Palm Beach doesn't count) she would realize that there are a lot of well informed people in fly over country, nearly all of us are capable of knowing when we have been insulted by some arrogant, self-important elitist. We don't need her telling us who is or isn't a prick.

Folks, let us not forget that any of the three remaining Democratic candidates is much better than any of the Republican candidates. We can fight over their subtle policy differences and their obvious differences in style, but we can't allow ourselves the luxury of engaging in the politics of personal destruction during this primary season. There are plenty of reasons to oppose Obama without calling him a prick. Remember one of these days we are all going to have to come together around our final selection. That candidate is going to need all of our help.

This clip was proudly posted to Youtube by LynnSamuels herself.

If you encounter a Campaign Video you think needs broader play, please email the link to proctoring.congress@gmail.com subject Campaign Video of the day.

Lynn, for what ever it is worth, I think you are better looking than Ann Coulter. You don't have an Adams apple.

Ann Coulter Proves Herself To Be An Anti-Semite

Ann Coulter has finally had a Macaca moment that may end her career on television and radio. Earlier this week Ann made the mistake of telling Donny Deutsch on his CNBC show that in her vision of America

"It would look like New York City during the [2004] Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like."
According to Media Matters
She described the convention as follows: "People were happy. They're Christian. They're tolerant. They defend America." Deutsch then asked, "It would be better if we were all Christian?" to which Coulter responded, "Yes." Later in the discussion, Deutsch said to her: "[Y]ou said we should throw Judaism away and we should all be Christians," and Coulter again replied, "Yes." When pressed by Deutsch regarding whether she wanted to be like "the head of Iran" and "wipe Israel off the Earth," Coulter stated: "No, we just want Jews to be perfected, as they say. ... That's what Christianity is. We believe the Old Testament, but ours is more like Federal Express. You have to obey laws."
Not only has the National Jewish Democratic Counsel strongly condemned her comments, it has called for "mainstream media outlets to stop inviting Ann Coulter as a guest commentator/pundit." The full NJDC press release can be found after the flip. The story seems to be growing. Chris Korzen, executive director of Catholics United told Rawstory
it was "particularly dangerous" to be mixing religious conversion with discussions of what it means to be an American, and he said Coulter's comments reminded him of John McCain referring to the US as a "Christian nation."
The video runs about 8 minutes, but the guy who captured it didn't cut out the commericals which run a full 4 minutes. Maybe you can fast forward. Except for the commercials the video is worth the watch.

NJDC CALLS ON MEDIA OUTLETS TO STOP INVITING ANN COULTER AS GUEST

COULTER IN CNBC INTERVIEW: JEWS SHOULD BE “PERFECTED” & AMERICA BETTER OFF IF EVERYONE WERE CHRISTIAN

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
October 10, 2007

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Today, the National Jewish Democratic Council (NJDC) called on mainstream media outlets to stop inviting Ann Coulter as a guest commentator/pundit and strongly condemned recent comments that Jews should be “perfected” by accepting the New Testament and that America would be better off if Judaism were “thrown away” and all Americans were Christian.

“While Ann Coulter has freedom of speech, news outlets should exercise their freedom to use better judgment,” said NJDC Executive Director Ira N. Forman. “Just as media outlets don’t invite those who believe that Martians walk the earth to frequently comment on science stories, it’s time they stop inviting Ann Coulter to comment on politics.”

Media Matters for America has a complete transcript of Coulter’s comments -- and video -- available here: http://mediamatters.org/items/200710100008

“How does someone who says that Judaism should be thrown out, that Jews should be ‘perfected’ and that America would be better off were everyone Christian continue to receive a megaphone and platform from the news networks?” continued Forman. “When will the media say ‘enough is enough?’”

From Media Matters:
During the October 8 edition of CNBC's The Big Idea, host Donny Deutsch asked right-wing pundit Ann Coulter: "If you had your way ... and your dreams, which are genuine, came true ... what would this country look like?" Coulter responded, "It would look like New York City during the [2004] Republican National Convention. In fact, that's what I think heaven is going to look like." She described the convention as follows: "People were happy.

After a commercial break, Deutsch said that "Ann said she wanted to explain her last comment," and asked her, "So you don't think that was offensive?" Coulter responded: "No. I'm sorry. It is not intended to be. I don't think you should take it that way, but that is what Christians consider themselves: perfected Jews. We believe the Old Testament. As you know from the Old Testament, God was constantly getting fed up with humans for not being able to live up to all the laws. What Christians believe -- this is just a statement of what the New Testament is -- is that that's why Christ came and died for our sins. Christians believe the Old Testament. You don't believe our testament." Coulter later said: "We consider ourselves perfected Christians. For me to say that for you to become a Christian is to become a perfected Christian is not offensive at all."

"The Cocktail Weenie Dimension"

I have just read a comment in one of Kevin Drum's threads that sounds like a lot of people I know. To put the comment in context, earlier today Kevin posted on the nature of the netroots. According to Kevin what is happening now is "powered by a lot of bog ordinary moderate liberals who have been radicalized by George Bush and the Newt Gingrichized Republican Party."

Some comments are just too good to be lost in a comment's thread.

I think a lot of journalists (though I don't mean to include Hertzberg here) don't quite get this because they haven't quite internalized just how far off the rails the modern Republican Party has gone. Kevin Drum at 12:38 PM

Man, you aint kidding. In saner times, I would have been called a moderate Republican. Now, because I oppose the bat-shit crazies in charge, I have been accused of being a mao-ist loving liberal.

If being liberal means thinking objectively and supporting the spirit of the constitution then I am a liberal.

Proudly so.

The problem for the 27% is they have so demonized every one that doesn't agree with their barking mad worship of authoritarian rule, that we are all liberals now.

Except for the press corpse, who lives in some alternate reality.

Call it the cocktail weenie dimension.

SnarkySnark, friend you are not alone.

This week the Kansas Republican party created a "loyalty committee" and a leading Republican contender for Missouri attorney general just left the party because he couldn't stomach the far right wing agenda. All of the fired U.S. Attorneys were Republicans who put their duty to America ahead of their party loyalty.

The press corp living in the cocktail weenie dimension seems to think the population has moved left. Guys most of us haven't moved left, the Republican faithful have just moved into their own right wing reality.

Lots of us listen to jackasses like Bill O'Reilly or Ann Coulter braying that folks like us are far lefties and wonder what the hell happened to America.

Ann Coulter Loses It

John Edwards was asked by Chris Matthews if he thought people should buy Ann's books. He had a one word answer. "NO."

Now, this clip of Ann Coulter losing her cool on Morning Joe makes me laugh. Apparently she can dish it out, but she can't take it.

You don't have to be an Edwards supporter to agree with him. I am sick of Coulter's hate speech.

You can find Matthews interview with Edwards here.

Newsweek Should Sue

New Hounds has an interesting piece up involving Ann Coulter. Apparently Ann is accusing Newsweek of faking its latest poll for the benefit of Al Qaeda. That is a serious charge coming from Coulter. After all she is an expert at "faking it." News Hounds suggests viewers gaze at her exposed navel.

Of course, while Geraldo Rivera focused on Barack Obama, all three of the Democratic front runners polled about the same against the top Republicans. John Edwards issued a press release about Coulter's remarks.

"Just when we thought Ann Coulter couldn't take the politics of personal destruction any lower, she proved us wrong. Her outrageous comments are inexcusable and should not be tolerated in the public dialogue.

"This is the latest example of how the political doctrine of Bush's Global War on Terror has created a climate where people think it's okay to use the threat of terrorism as a guise for hateful political attacks. There is no superior 'Republican' way to fight terrorism. The exercise of raw power alone does not make you a world leader, and will not make us secure. Our capacity to lead requires that we be strong - and that we have the moral authority to do it."
Come on John, its not like a heavy weight said something on a real news show or even a real news network.

Remember the News Hounds motto: "We watch FOX so you don't have to."
